About

As a certified health educator, sexual wellness influencer, public speaker, and activist, Shawna Shipley-Gates, MPH, CHES empowers black women to unapologetically take control of their own sex lives. With almost ten years of HIV prevention and sexual health expertise, she has shared her purpose on both local and national platforms addressing the importance of
self-love, confidence, and knowledge as tools for
healthier sexual behaviors among black women.
Due to her academic, personal, and career experiences, Shawna founded, Cupcake Noire, a sex-positive brand that highlights everything healthy, unabashedly provocative, and luxurious about black female sexuality by focusing less on respectability politics and more on politics of pleasure; ridding of the historical yet negative stereotypes by altering our sexual narrative; fighting against misogynoir; and promoting
healthy behaviors and outcomes one cupcake at a time.
Out with Mammy, Jezebel, and Sapphire...In with C U P C A K E N O I R E.
ENJOY!
XOXO, Shawna
