Black gURL Erotic

The Black gURL Erotic Project, is a multi-phase implementation science project—grounded in the disciplinary frameworks of Black girlhood studies, digital humanities, and public health—that examines how digital interventions rooted in eroticism and comprehensive sexual health education has the potential to encourage subjectivity, self-definition, and sexual empowerment, positively impacting young Black women’s sexual health behaviors.

Currently, the project is in phase 1, conducting a systematic review in collaboration with University of Kentucky Librarians Dr. Adriana Sisko and Julie Volpenhein to synthesize evidence on existing digital sexual health interventions for Black adolescent girls and young women based on audience, sexual health focus, theoretical framework(s), digital platform, prioritization of pleasure, community engagement, and research and evaluation methods.
